Business started as a rubber trading operation under David Hapangama

1956

First started exporting rubber to international markets, as part of the Ceylon-China trade agreement of 1952

1987

The second generation of the family enters the business, bringing in value addition. The first rubber glove factory is established in Warakapola, Sri Lanka

1988 – 1998

The very first production expansion phase; Lalan Rubbers expands from one to six manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka

2003

Lalan Rubbers diversifies into the plantation sector; an acquisition of a regional plantation company sees the company’s land portfolio grow to over 17,000 acres

2004 – 2009

First international expansion program with the acquisition of several UK-based companies, and establishment of the first trading operation outside Sri Lanka

2009 – 2014

The second production expansion program; growing our footprint from six to nine production facilities

2015 – present

The third production expansion program grows production facilities from nine to fourteen – all in Sri Lanka. The second phase of our international expansion program sees the creation of trading operations on 4 continents.
